Château de la Mosson Château de la Mosson was constructed during the 18th century by Joseph Bonnier, treasurer of the states of Languedoc. After the family became bankrupt at the end of the 18th century, the building became a silk factory, a dye factory, and a soap factory, before finally being aquired by the town of Montpellier in 1982. The building features 18the century architecture, and the Italian designed 'Salon de Musique' is also worth note. There is a 15 hectare garden open to the public, that surrounds the Chateau. Domaine de la Mosson Construction on Domaine de la Mosson began in 1728. It was established by state treasurer Jospeh Bonnier, and remained an impressive folly until his financial ruin 30 years after it's initial construction began. The building then was converted into a soap factory until the city of Montpellier purchased it in 1982. All that remains today of the original construction is a Ventian-style pavillion, and a 100 metre long water channel. A large park is also located here.
