Hôtel St Côme Hôtel St Côme was named for the patron saint of doctors and nurses, and was originally a surgery school. At the end of the 18th century, the building was adopted as the Chamber of Commerce building, and it remains that to this day. It is an impressive piece of architecture. The main building is octagonal-shaped, and features a high vaulted ceiling. Address: Place St Côme Montpellier FR 34000

La Tour des Pins La Tour des Pins is one of 25 towers that once reinforced the medieval walls and gateways of Montpellier, and one of only two that remain standing. This tower stands 23 metres in height, and is surrounded by a small park full of cedars. A plaque commemorates the 1208 birth of James the Conqueror, king of Aragon. In the 16th century the tower served as a Protestant refuge, and during the French revolution it functioned as a prison. Today, it is the site for the city archives.
